Why is this female footballer covering her private parts?

This is the question on the lips of many after Bayana Bayana women’s footballer Nothando Vilakazi baffled Olympics viewers by protecting her private parts in the wall during their match against Brazil at Rio 2016.



It is a move that
male footballers do regularly – for obvious reasons.
 But with no obvious appendage, why did defender Vilakazi try and cover her nether regions?
