When is the EFL Cup third round draw? Manchester United and Man City enter the competition

Man Utd and Manchester City will find out who they will face in the third round of the EFL Cup

The EFL Cup starts getting serious from the third round when the final seven Premier League teams enter the competition - including the two Manchester sides.
Manchester City are the current holders of the trophy, named the Capital One Cup last year but re-branded after the company did not renew their sponsorship.
Manchester United and City were given a bye through the second round thanks to their involvement in European competition, along with Arsenal, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and West Ham.
Chelsea and Liverpool have already booked a place in the third round with victories on Tuesday, and the rest of the teams will be confirmed on Wednesday night when the final four games of the second round take place.
Here's everything you need to know ahead of the draw.

When will the draw take place?

The draw for the third round will be on Wednesday, August 24 following the conclusion of the Accrington Stanley vs Burnley tie.
You can follow it live on Sky Sports, and M.E.N. Sport will bring you the news as soon as the draw takes place.

Who can United and City draw?

The Premier League sides involved in European competition enter the EFL Cup in the third round to join the 25 teams who emerged victorious from the second round.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Leicester City, Southampton, West Ham, Blackburn, Liverpool, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Derby, Everton, Hull, Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Northampton, Norwich, Brighton, Swansea, Preston, QPR, Reading, Bristol City, Stoke, Gillingham, Wolves, Accrington/Burnley, Fulham/Middlesbrough, Morecambe/Bournemouth, Sunderland/Shrewsbury

When will the games be played?

All 16 ties will take place in the week commencing September 19.
