Manchester United defender Phil Jones outlines ambitions

Phil Jones is wanted by Arsenal and Stoke but the Manchester United defender is keen to kick on under Jose Mourinho.

Phil Jones has outlined his determination to play regularly this season amid speculation he could leave Manchester United on loan.
Both Stoke and Arsenal have shown interest in Jones after he was omitted from United's matchday squads for the first three games of the new season.
The 24-year-old, who joined United over five years ago, has not played a competitive game for the first-team since January 2 and Jones is eager to move on from his injury woe.
"I've had ups and downs," he told JD Football. "It started off really well and winning the league in my second season was a dream, I've managed to play at a World Cup, been at a Euros, played over 100 games, overall not as many as I'd have liked but hopefully I can get many more games.
"I didn't play much football last season so it's important for me to stay fit and give myself a bit of an edge at the start of the season, come back fit and strong. I've started seasons off and set this goal and that goal, and I want to do this and I want to do that.

"I just want to play football this season and just enjoy it, play games and win things ultimately and hopefully we can do that."
Jones could become United's fifth-choice centre-back if the club manages to sign Jose Fonte from Southampton before next week's transfer deadline.
Eric Bailly, Daley Blind and Chris Smalling are already ahead of Jones, who spoke positively about working under Jose Mourinho.
"Obviously a new manager comes in he has different inputs, different mentality, different training drills, sessions and so on," he added. "But so far it's been really good.

"It's been enjoyable and there's a freshness about the place and I think as time progresses then we'll understand the way he wants to play, the way he wants people to play certain positions and we'll get to know him more and vice versa.
"And hopefully we can all build a great partnership, a good team and have a successful season."
Jones made just seven starts last term and has averaged just 28 appearances per season since he moved to United from Blackburn in 2011.
