Pogba sets two new records at Man United
World most expensive player Paul Pogba is yet to kick a ball for Manchester United but has already set two records for the old Trafford club.
The 23-year-old rejoined the Red Devils for £89.4m from Juventus this summer and fans of the club have already caught frenzy of his home-coming after he left the club four years ago.
FCNaija.com have monitored the mood around the club since the France international returned and after Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke a similar record on the club’s social media it was only a matter of time before Pogba follows suit.
According to Manutd.com: “Paul Pogba’s much-celebrated transfer has smashed two records on the club’s social media accounts in less than a week, as well as on ManUtd.com.
“Our photo of Pogba wearing the 2016/17 home adidas shirt with the caption “Home” is now @ManUtd’s most retweeted post of all time, with 89.2K followers sharing it at the time of writing.
“The same image of the 23-year-old in United’s new red jersey has also become the club’s most popular Instagram post ever after it earned 637K likes. That is more than the previous record holder, which was a photo of Zlatan Ibrahimovic celebrating his winner in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.
“Ibrahimovic had previously held that same Instagram record with an image of him holding aloft his Reds shirt on 1 July, the day he signed his contract at the Aon Training Complex.
“Pogba’s return to United also had an impressive impact away from social media, with the announcement that he would undergo a medical at the club becoming ManUtd.com’s most-read story in history. That title was previously held by Louis van Gaal’s heartfelt statement to fans following his departure in May.
“The video in the player above showcases some of the highlights from the #POGBACK campaign, including the short film that announced his arrival and the exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of his first day back at the club, as well as Jesse Lingard’s own video with his fellow Academy graduate.”
Unfortunately Manchester United fans will have to wait a little longer to see Pogba in action as he is suspended for today’s premier league opener against Bournemouth.
