As the continent looks for­ward to the forthcoming Africa International Movie Summit (AFRIMS), billed for the capital city of Abuja, Nigeria, in September2016, the Nigerian Gov­ernment is said to have indicated its intentions to partner with the organizers of the maiden edition of the program.
According to a statement from the organizers, made available to The AUTHORITY Newspapers, signed by the CEO of Sixt – Me­dia Lane Consult Ltd, Ambassador Sixtus Opara.
The statement reads, “The min­istry has communicated to us, its desire to partners with us in the forthcoming AFRIMS and this is because of the progressive nature of the project. The partnership is in actualization of the commitment of the current administration towards supporting the private sector in growing a strong economy that is independent of oil”.
“The vision of AFRIMS is to strengthen the African film in­dustry in such a way that we can tell our own stories the African way, while fostering a strong com­petitive mechanisms against other movie industries in Europe and America”.
The project is also coming in partnership with some other nota­ble corporate organizations in Ni­geria and beyond, e.g Nollywood Film Institute, Daylight online Newspaper among others.
