Guardiola 'cannot deny' Bravo is on his way to Man City
Manchester City are set to complete the signing of Claudio Bravo in time for Sunday's Premier League game against West Ham
Claudio Bravo will complete his move to Manchester City in time for Sunday’s Premier League clash with West Ham.
The Chilean goalkeeper is on his way to Manchester to undergo a medical today ahead of his £14m move from Barcelona.
Pep Guardiola has so far refused to comment about his interest in the 33-year-old.
But when questioned on the subject ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest, he said: “I can’t deny what everybody knows. Barcelona, seven to 10 days ago, were the firsts ones to announce contact with Manchester City.
“But I’m sorry guys, until the deal is complete or not complete (I can’t speak), but at the moment the player is not out player.
“Until August 31, all the players here are my players, and I will work with them like there is no end, so after that we can speak about everything.
“The situation with Joe, I spoke about. I am not able to speak about negotiations.”
Guardiola has identified Bravo as his new No1 after dropping England international Joe Hart this season.
Bravo boarded a flight to Manchester this afternoon ahead of his proposed move.
If his medical goes through without a hitch as expected, he will be available for City’s game against West Ham at the Etihad on Sunday.
Hart’s future remains in doubt due to Everton’s reluctance to pay in the region on £7m for a year-long loan.
Guardiola has not ruled out the 29-year-old being included in his team for the first time against Steaua.
