CAF CL: Enyimba win protest against Zamalek

Reigning Nigeria League champions, Enyimba have won their protest against Egyptian side Zamalek ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League clash.
The Egyptians had cunningly brought their clash with Enyimba forward to Saturday instead of the advertised Sunday date but after a protest was filed in by the Nigeria flag bearers, CAF has ruled that the game will either go on as scheduled for Sunday or at the most on Monday.
FCnaija.com understands that the change muted by Zamalek was because the residents have planned to stage a memorial protest for a poor incident that happened last year August in the country.
But that for Enyimba is not enough reason as they already have their mind towards playing on Sunday and not 24 hours earlier.
“This is not fair, and this is not what the rules says about change of date and time for a game. The rules says fourteen days notification to the clubs involve in the game, we won’t take this and we have rejected the decision.
“We reject the decisions taken by CAF because it is surely against the development of African football, and not based on any statutory basis.
“Our key players are in Spain for NPFL – LaLiga tour and they are due to arrive Egypt on Saturday evening. Well, for the sake of fair play we can play on Monday but definitely not on Saturday, Enyimba boss Felix Anyansi stated before they won their protest.
The group B match is very crucial for Enyimba as they need a win to be sure of their stay in for a place in the semi finals.
